MARYN International is a 35 year old company with deep roots in the agricultural and industrial industries. It's hard to go a day and not have a really good laugh, or fall victim to a nerf gun attack. Not quite the attitude you would expect at a company known for innovation, but it's all just in a day's work here at MARYN. We really do believe that fun is that best kind of work.
The team here is something of an anomaly as well. It's the way it should be when you get to work with such cultural diversity, but what is definitely unusual about the MARYN workplace is that half of them are from all over the world. It's almost like working at the United Nations, only we're trying to make the world a better place!
Mark started out with the intent to be a lawyer and never made it to law school. Instead, at 21, he started PowerUp and grew it into what it is today. At first there was a single product that he sold farm to farm, now there is an international business with three product lines and constant innovation. Mark is an adventurous soul, whether he is riding his motorcycle up to the arctic ocean and back or riding his bicycle across Canada to raise money for charity, he takes care of the rest of us at MARYN and does a pretty darn good job.
Jim is the oldest member of our team, but definitely not the slowest. He is charged with ensuring that all of our International and Overseas distributor's needs are met. With a background in Mechanical Engineering he is well aware of the lubrication needs of any piece of equipment you have.
He has been with the MARYN team since its inception and we wouldn't be the same without him.
Dennis got to know MARYN International during his days as a bulk fuel dealer for UFA Petroleum. He saw the benefits that his clients received from treating their fuel with Gen49D and when they were having problems with their gearboxes overheating he found that we offered a whole line of performance products that would help his clients.
When Dennis decided to get out of the bulk fuel delivery business we asked him if he would like to join our team doing sales and with the great experience that he had had with MARYN he naturally said yes. He'll tell you that making the jump to MARYN was the best thing he ever did.
Greg Minke first came into contact with MARYN International when it was still operating under the name PowerUp and had only one product to offer. He helped take the PowerUp name all over Canada building the sales team on his way. He has ventured out on his own on a couple different occasions, but the gravitational force of the MARYN culture and the innumerable opportunities that this company offers always pulls him back.
Greg is currently working as our Business Development Coordinator and is helping in the development of new products that we will soon be bringing to the market.
With a background in retail management, Brian was the perfect fit to help us grow our MARYN retail presence. His expertise ranges from direct sales to merchandising to IT and technical writing. When it comes down to it, there is not much that this guy can't do. We're lucky to have him on our team.
He participates on our regional development team which basically means he's a frequent flyer and often the one who you get to see face to face either helping our retailers or providing field support for our consumers.
There's not much to say about Carter. He has always been around when we needed him and the longer he is with us, the more he takes on. With a business and entrepreneurial background he often spearheads new ventures and then lets the professionals take over. Working on our Business Development, Marketing, and Sales teams, it's highly unlikely that you'll get a hold of him at his desk.
One great thing about Carter is his ability to relate to people and get to the root of problems. He doesn't always have the answers, but knows who to talk to on the team to get you the results you need.
We have been blessed to have Jia Ming on our team for the past 10-12 years. As a native of China and with the booming market there any business would do well to have him. Jia Ming comes with a background in marketing, but his talents don't stop there. His ability to find what you want in China is nothing short of remarkable. Whether it be a nice watch or a motorized skateboard Jia Ming can find it. To put it simply: he is like the Chinese version of Morgan Freeman from the Shawshank Redemption.
If you ever get the chance to talk to Nicole about some of the positions that she has held you would certainly be very, very surprised. Nicole has been in the Oil & Gas industry for many years. She has worked in Canada, South America, Europe, and any number of other countries around the world. She is the friendly voice that you hear when you call the office and that extends to every part about her. There is not a mean bone in her body. She makes every one of us smile each day we are at the office.
Chizumi is our trusted accountant and controller and as an added bonus has a background in business as well. She is an accomplished world traveler who started in Japan and as our luck would have it she landed at our doorstep. We love the structure that Chizumi brings to the MARYN environment, but it is certainly in your best interest to have all your ducks in a row with her, because its important to keep her happy.
Tom has been with MARYN almost as long as it has existed. He is in charge of plant operations which means it's important to keep him happy. Tom blends all the products that go to market and ensures that you get the same high quality in every bottle.
Larry is another one who came to work with us after having had a full career in another field. Larry first got to know us in the early 1990's when working for a plastic bottle plant as their millwright. He fell in love with our products when the significant reduction in downtime from using them gave him more nap time at work.
Being so well rested when he retired from there he was ready to come work with us at MARYN and we've worked him like a rented mule since. We apologize to him, but there is no nap time here. We love having him to fill any position we need. Larry is awesome!
Eddie hales from the Phillipines and we love having him on our team. He is in charge of packaging and that means that every bottle of product that makes it into your machinery has had his hand on it. Eddie is an efficient machine himself and we'll definitely have to hire two people to keep up with him if he ever leaves us.
Dale is the token Chuck Norris at MARYN. His first love is mixed martial arts with a focus on Jiu Jitsu, but running a close second is the art of product shipping. Whether your products need to go to the plant next door or to the distributor in Turkey there is no need to fret because Dale will make it happen. Dale is as kind as they come, but just don't make him angry or you may find yourself in a Guillotine Choke.
