MARINUS VALVE ACTUATOR (VA) OIL is a custom formulated synthetic fluid designed to meet the exacting demands of the gas pipeline industry.  Marinus VA oil is used in gas/hydraulic actuators to rotate the valve stems by using the gas pressure in the pipeline as a source of power.

Marinus VA Oil meets the viscosity requirements identified by actuator manufacturers over a wide range of temperatures.  This provides smooth transmission of power to the valve stem and allows the valve to be opened or closed within the specified time cycle.

Marinus VA Oil exhibits a very low foaming tendency.  The base fluid is synthesized to have low surface tension, which promotes its natural anti-foaming property.  Foaming causes poor fluid power transfer, slow actuator speed and increases fluid entrainment in the exhaust gas released into the environment.

Marinus VA Oil is designed to address two types of corrosion: over-head, vapor corrosion (such as the underside of the reservoir cover), and submerged, liquid phase corrosion.  Marinus VA Oil contains a filming-amine type corrosion inhibitor to address overhead corrosion and an acid-neutralizing type for the submerged phase corrosion.

Aquatic Toxicity

Marinus VA Oil passed the Rainbow Trout Toxicity Test with a 100% survival rate following the Environment Canada EPS1/RM/12 procedure.

Phyto Toxicity

Marinus VA Oil exhibits low toxicity towards plant life.  The LD 50 in seed germination tests is 37%, 29% and 18% respectively for Roblin wheat, Lodgepole pine and Timothy grass.

Temperature Range

Marinus VA Oil has been tested and has performed successfully over a range of temperatures from -490C to +650C.

Seal Compatibility

Marinus VA Oil is compatible with typical seal materials currently used by actuator manufacturers.  It is approved for use by major manufacturers.

Oil Compatibility

Marinus VA Oil can tolerate inter-mixing should there be other oils in the system, but the biodegradability and toxicity of Marinus VA Oil would be negatively affected.
